BB/Rooms during Town Week
Linden needs a few good bed and breakfast (B&B) homes. Great opportunity during times like Town Week to make a few extra dollars while demonstrating our renowned hospitality by hosting out of towners. It may be too late for this year but let's start planning for next year.
A BB doesn't have to offer breakfast, it could be just a clean room, hospitable hosts and a sanitary bathroom/shower.
P.S If you guys know of any such homes please alert us , lots of out of towners are looking for places

Guyana
How is life in linden, meaning political wise, all the things Im hearing in the news, is less than positive, about the political system and the law dogs are equally worthless. I left Guyana at a very young age, came home once, and currently traveling the world, protecting the American way of life and really enjoying what I do. But I'm curious about the way of people life.

IS JAFFAR BEING BOUGHT????
The PPPC record in Linden is appalling
June 7, 2011 | By KNews | Filed Under Letters
The Editor,
Amazement, dismay and a deep sense of betrayal were some of the emotions that I am sure came to the youths of Linden who would have read the article in Monday’s Stabroek News.
That article quoted ‘Jaffar’ Mohamed as working to handover their future to the PPPC regime after 19 years of providing absolutely NOTHING to Linden apart from token improvements to allow their supporters to reap millions of dollars. But these supporters provided Lindeners continuously with poor quality work!
I am reminded here of the government’s promise to upgrade the Mackenzie Sports Club Hardcourt, with its millions of dollars spent to prepare a surface that no basketball could be played on, but a known PPP/C supporter/contractor boldly faced the media to say that ‘de wuk done’.
While I am not against any individual having a unique political view, this gentleman purports to represent a faith that very recently came forcibly face to face with the realities of dealing with a repressive government bent on suppressing the very things our Constitution guarantees.
One is only left to wonder if his ‘brothers’ have come under attack by this very regime, have been incarcerated and prevented from speaking out at forums he himself had promoted here in Linden.
What could possibly be his motive for working towards leading the gullible to a similar fate?
I forcibly restrained myself from quoting the nonsense recorded there, in favour of pointing out the many inconsistencies apparent to all. I will leave the public to be the judge of the content, character and motives of this Lindener.
1. After stating, according to the report, that his new ‘group’ would work towards the PPP/C winning Region Ten, and that Linden would be “better off” with the PPP/C at the helm, the reality of life in Linden forced Jaffar to immediately point to the need to appoint ‘shadow ministers’ to ensure the representation of the interest of Lindeners at the government level.
But this same government that he supports holds a Parliamentary seat for Region Ten, held by no lesser person than the Prime Minister himself. Is Jaffar then saying that the PPP/C Prime Minister has not represented the interests of Region Ten for the five years that he has held this seat?
Or is it that the government he supports refuses to include Linden and Region Ten in the development of Guyana because they cannot ‘control’ us?
Jaffar stated that the PPP/C had “proven that it has the capacity to take Guyana forward”. My question to him is, where do I live Sir? In Rwanda? If taking Guyana forward means an improvement in the lives of its citizens, I dare him to apply this to the reality being faced by any 18 to 40 year old living in Linden. And ask them if, after 19 years of the PPP/C, their life is truly “better”.
The targets of this group are first time voters and youths as stated. However, these same young people would have just been BORN when the PPP/C went into government, and this Party would have had ALL OF THEIR LIFETIME to make things better for them. Are these youths better off than their parents? Do they own their own homes? Do they have stable, well paying jobs? Do they have sporting facilities to occupy the huge amount of free time their unemployed status leaves them? Do they have organized sports the likes of the GUYMINE/GUYSTAC Games to hone their athletic talents?
Can they afford to support a family if they choose to get married? IS their life truly better after 20 years of the PPP/C?
While no government can create jobs for all of its people, EVERY government is tasked with creating the climate for investment and opportunities to ensure that all its citizens could be gainfully employed.
Low employment levels are the bane of President Obama at this very moment. Indeed, in an effort to guarantee stability in society and lower crime levels, high employment levels rank as maybe the single greatest contributor to that guarantee. With 19 years to bring employment to Region Ten, this government has surely failed totally on this score, and on the basis of this alone the support of this organization for failure should make Lindeners shun them.
My amazement quickly turned to pity, however, when I turned the page and saw all of the Executives of this ‘group’ in the “What Lindeners Say” column (lol). These same persons who ‘support’ the PPPC government, joined ALL of the other Lindeners on that page in highlighting my last point, the dismal failure of the PPP/C to provide employment for residents of Region Ten.
Their conscience spoke, and they rattled off concern over infrastructure, sports facilities, inputs in the health sector, water, roads and the quality of work being accepted by this government who always boasts of millions and billions spent, when we live with the potholes and water that is undrinkable.
I am therefore going to leave it up to my fellow residents to determine if Jaffar is worthy of their ‘support’, or if he is only another of the minority who will wander over to seek to benefit from the government’s concept of “money spent, NO work done”.

Results - 2nd Semifinal Round, Edward Richmond Football Tournament 2011 (Matchday 14)
Results - Edward Richmond Football Tournament (Matchday 14)
Today saw the playing of the second semifinal leg of the 2011 tournament, and the finalists have been decided. This year's final will see a new champion since both the inaugural and Defending Champions failed in their respective bids to amass the better aggregate goals necessary to advance to the Finals. Can two time runners up C/Burg-Wismar Secondary capture that elusive trophy, or will Knockout stage debutantes, Harmony Secondary, make them 'second best' for a third consecutive year. All these questions, and more, will be answered on Tuesday 3rd May, 2011, from 13:30 Hrs at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground. Here are today's results.
GAME 1 Wisburg Secondary 0 v/s 1 Christianburg-Wismar Secondary
SCORER
Dorwayne Luke (CWSS) - 60th Min.
Christianburg-Wismar Secondary advances to the Grand Finale with a 4 - 1 aggregate score while Wisburg Secondary will contest the Third Place playoff.
GAME 2 Linden Foundation Secondary 2 v/s 2 Harmony Secondary
SCORERS
Nathaniel Duke (LFSS) - 43rd Min.
Joshawn Freeman (HSS) - 55th Min.
Andrew Breedy (LFSS) - 60th Min.
Colwin Davids (HSS) - 63rd Min.
Harmony Secondary advances to the Grand Finale with a 7 - 3 aggregate score while Linden Foundation Secondary will contest the Third Place playoff.
Harmony Secondary's Colwyn Davids seems the frontrunner for this year's Most Goals Scorer award, compliments of Fantasia Comfort Zone Taxi Service, with an unofficial count of 5 goals. Can he add to this total in the finals?

Results – Edward Richmond Football Tournament (Matchday 11)
Harmony Secondary School 1 v/s 0 Linden School of Excellence (Walkover Win)
Marcia Craig Educational Institute 0 v/s 1 Christianburg-Wismar Secondary (Walkover Win)
GROUP A
Harmony Secondary School has booked their place in the Semifinal rounds of this year’s tournament, having emerged top of the group, possibly temporarily, with 13 points from 6 games (W = 4; d = 1; L = 1). Thursday’s match has a lot of implications for this group, since Wisburg is on 10 points from 5 games and New Silvercity Secondary with 7 points from 5 games. Silvercity will have to win by at least three clear goals to advance to the semifinal round since Wisburg has a +2 goal-difference advantage. Wisburg can also claim the top spot in Group A should they win their match on Thursday and concede no goals.
GROUP B
Both Christianburg-Wismar Secondary and Linden Foundation Secondary Schools have booked their place in the semis but Matchday 12 will determine who goes through at the top of the group. Linden Foundation, with a win on Thursday, will share similar points with C/Burg- Wismar Secondary but they will have to score four goals to edge CWSS from the top since CWSS has a +3 goal difference advantage. Thursday is indeed set to be an exciting day of football.

FOR TOO LONG NOW..............
Concern Guyanese,
Martin Luther King Jr. in his famous ‘Mountaintop speech’ said, “The masses of people are rising up. And wherever they are assembled today, whether they are in Johannesburg, South Africa; Nairobi, Kenya; Accra, Ghana; New York City; Atlanta, Georgia; Jackson, Mississippi; or Memphis, Tennessee -- the cry is always the same: "We want to be free." It is the same cry we hear today in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Iran and Libya; “we want to be free.” In Guyana for too long now, “we want to be free.”
Our people must free themselves from almost two decades of corruption, marginalization, starvation, homelessness, rape, murder, joblessness and lies. Enough is enough, and today mark the beginning of the end to racism and poor governance. We must be free of the fear that stark the land, the fear that prevent the opposition from fighting back; the fear that prevents the army and police force from adhering to the rule of law; the fear that prevents the judiciary from administering Justice. For too long now, “we want to be free.”
In this period of history it means that we must unite as one. The story is told of “whenever Pharaoh wanted to prolong the period of slavery in Egypt, he had a favorite, favorite formula for doing it. He kept the slaves fighting among themselves. But whenever the slaves get together, something happens in Pharaoh's court, and he cannot hold the slaves in slavery. When the slaves get together, that's the beginning of getting out of slavery.” Now let us maintain unity. By uniting we will have the strength to deliver us from this evil we face for too long now.
We are a people in a quandary for too long now. We are a people in search of our future. We are a people in search of a national community. We are a people trying not only to solve the problems of today, but we are attempting on a larger scale to fulfill the promise of freedom. We are attempting to fulfill our national purpose of one people, one nation, and one destiny, to create and sustain a society in which all of us are equal; not just a few. For too long now we have been bamboozled and denied our very right to protest and dissent.
What we need in Guyana today is leadership with a vision we can depend on. “Only leadership -- that intangible combination of gifts, the discipline, information, circumstance, courage, timing, will and divine inspiration -- can lead us out of the crisis in which we find ourselves today. Leadership can mitigate the misery of our nation. Leadership can part the waters and lead our nation in the direction of the Promised Land. Leadership can lift the boats stuck at the bottom.” Leadership and security is what the PNCR and David Granger is offering the Guyanese masses today. Leadership and a life good for all Guyanese!
Finally, we must register to vote and turn out Election Day to make absolute sure that the ruling cabal is given the send off they deserve for too long now.
