ONLY THE TRUTH SHALL SET US FREE
In a sense Indians can legitimately lay claim to whiteness. Europeans are a branch of the Indo Aryan Group. This world did not begin with the mosaic of peoples that are in it currently. The potpouri is a product of migration, climatic biological adaptations, and no small amount of shared learned,as opposed to genetic, redispositions and conditionin...

Why Guyanese Indians think they are white when they come to America
Guyanese Indians like Indians across the world are obsessed with improving their status. Culturally Indians, like their Asian counterparts in China, Japan and Korea are conditioned to strive for excellence. As children, you are told to be a doctor, be a lawyer, and engineer or a rich merchant. Much is expected from you and anything less is not an o...

Silent Lover
if you ask white Americans about their ethnic makeup, they can easily identify themselves as either Italian, German, Irish, Polish or a mixture of various European groups. They do not have to claim the entire continent of Europe because most can trace where in Europe their ancestors came from. thus we don't find white Americans calling themselves ...

YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT OTHERS, BESIDES BLACK PEOPLE DO
White people describe themselves as italian American, Jewish American, Irish American, Indian American, and so on and so forth. There are Germanic, and Irish enclaves in the Bronx and elsewhere that are replicas of the origins of thse peoples. In other words, tnterest only seem to pique when black people seek to highlight their origins to the same ...

I guess you are familiar with Runoko Rashidi and his works on the ancient African presence in India. As you may guess, I had never heard of any African presence in India until I came to the USA five years ago. When I try to share this information with family and friends here in Mon Repos, most seem uninterested. My grandfather however is not surpri...

Marginalization
VC, I'm sure there is a racial aspect to this but as much as we can blame this situation on a racist society, we (parents, family, teachers) need to take responsibility for our kids. I can't tell you how uninvolved some of the parents down there seem. They don't know their kids teachers, they don't meet with them, they don't know what their kids ...

Marginalization
The Exam results reflect where interest is being targeted in education in Guyana. Go back and exam the ethnic ratio and see where the curve began. I bet you the result will show it began after 1992. People do not suddenly become stupid. Since blacks have always been competitive in education, the slide has to be a function of changes that coincide w...

Exam Results
The reason is simple. The parents, the teachers and they education system down there are all one big hot mess. Kids in Linden (Guyana) are not getting anything close to the education we got. I remember common entrance time. Ms Fordice was on your ass all day and even in your sleep. You couldn't do a damn thing because you were studying. There...

EXAMS RESULTS
As I read the Newspaper I could not help but wonder based upon the results of the Exams to enter High School how come not even one child from Linden made the Top fifteen list. Also the ration of Indian to Black is staggering. But in any event congrats to those that made themselves and family Proud. As a Linder I can't help but wonder.
